Author: Mary Katherine Backstrom

Publisher: Worth Publishing

Pages: 240

Holy Hot Mess is about how we can find God in our daily, messy lives. Mary Katherine Backstrom discusses the journey to living holy is never perfect and is messy, however, God is in our very messy moments. Mrs. Backstrom illustrates this with the telling of stories of her own life and how she saw God working within those moments. We are works in progress that God is working on.

One topic that Mrs. Backstrom wrote about that truly jumped out at me was her discussion of the perception of Scripture/the Bible. She writes that God wants us to live a full life and that the Bible, the Scriptures serves as our "guardrail" so that we can safely live that life. The perception of Scriptures has been misunderstood and Mrs. Backstrom's reflection on the purpose of Scripture was great to read.

I would recommend this book because Mrs. Backstrom is relatable and writes with a down-to-earth voice. Mrs. Backstrom's personal stores will make you laugh, however, mostly they will have you reflecting ont he goodness of God.

Happy Reading!
